Two mediocre athletes, one great outcome
They met at East Texas Baptist University, where both were in the middle of athletic careers that no scout ever drove out to see. Not bad. Not good. Solidly, reliably fine.
Bruno came all the way from Brazil for this. Kaia was already there. Somewhere between the practices nobody watched and the seasons nobody remembers, they found the one thing either of them was actually going to win.
They are both fiercely competitive, which would be more impressive if either of them won at board games with any regularity. They do not. They lose loudly, they demand rematches, and they have never once agreed on whether a rule was a rule.
Most people take one look at Kaia's sass and find something else to do. Bruno stands there. Five years in, he has not moved. That's the whole story, honestly.
